Generative Robotics & AI for EU Industrial Leadership
GRAIL is a European project led that develops AI foundation models to enable robots to learn, adapt and perform industrial tasks autonomously in real factory environments.
The project will enable robots to learn directly in factory environments by training on large volumes of data from different tasks, physical interactions and industrial scenarios. Its goal is to create a robust, reliable and adaptable AI system that helps robots understand their surroundings, plan actions and perform tasks with greater autonomy, while keeping humans in control through supervision and intervention mechanisms.
The technology will support different types of robots, including industrial arms, collaborative robots and humanoids, reducing the need to reprogram them for every new task. Instead, robots will be able to reuse previously learned skills and adapt them to new situations. GRAIL will initially be validated in key European sectors such as automotive, aeronautics, intralogistics, steel and electronics, contributing to Europe’s industrial competitiveness, technological sovereignty and responsible adoption of trustworthy AI in manufacturing.
