Sustainable processes for the management of end-of-life batteries & critical raw materials recovery
UPRAISE aims to strengthen the EU’s resilience in the lithium-ion battery value chain by addressing current gaps in recycling and reuse.
The project tries to bring together different existing technologies in a way that doesn't depend on the type of chemistry used, and it does this for both NMC and LFP batteries. It is built on six key innovations, ranging from dismantling batteries quickly and checking them for problems, reusing parts for other uses, and safely getting rid of chemicals, to recycling batteries in the most efficient way to produce materials that can be used in batteries.
By working together with industry, research centres and universities, UPRAISE will deliver solutions at pilot scale (TRL 6–7), support the Batt4EU Partnership, contribute to sustainability frameworks and digital battery passports, and generate significant economic and employment impacts in the EU.
AIMEN leads sustainability and circularity assessment and collaborate in the diagnostic assessment in the end of life of the batteries with charge-discharge tests.
