Cervera network of robotic technologies in smart manufacturing

  • Start: 01/01/2021
  • End: 31/12/2023

The Cervera network of robotic technologies in smart manufacturing (5R) was created with the aim of establishing a collaborative network, equipped with the necessary technology, tools and infrastructures to act as a driving force in the development and introduction of new robotic technologies in the industrial manufacturing fabric. The network aims for removing the existing gap at the national level in the value chain that hinders technology transfer and affects the competitiveness of our sector. This gap in the value chain is due to the fact that most of the technology integrated and deployed in our factories comes from international manufacturers (Japan and China in Asia; Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland and Germany in Europe; and the United States) with which a situation of technological dependence is created that threatens our autonomy, even more so in a context of serious commercial disputes.
The TEKNIKER, EURECAT, AIMEN, CARTIF and CATEC centers will collaborate within this network for the next 3 years in order to position themselves as the benchmark R&D network in the application of robotic technologies in perception, interaction and cognition for smart manufacturing ; promote the new paradigms of flexible and collaborative robotics supported by artificial intelligence in the manufacturing sector; and in increasing and accelerating business technology transfer and technological innovation in the industrial fabric.
As part of the network activities, the 5R network will design a total of five pilot factories, focused on different problems and industrial sectors such as automotive, shipbuilding, rail, aerospace, energy, textile, metalworking, recycling, food, electronic and electromechanical components and logistics. These facilities will be deployed from physical elements currently already available on the network and will be complemented by a series of unique components.
